After lectures today (maths and stats again, didn't make me cry this time and in fact I just about managed to follow what was going on) I went to the pub with a couple of the other girls just starting a PhD. One in particular I think was separated at birth from, we got on really well, and I'm really grateful that I'm starting to get to know some new friends, which was something that I was a little anxious about, particularly as I'm living a fair way out of uni-land. So hooray for that.
In other news, today I tried to arrange a viewing on a couple of flats which appeared in the paper on Monday. Both were sold already. I knew the Scottish system was quicker than the English one, but that's ridiculous! So it has galvanised me to not procrastinate when I next see an interesting flat - the second I see the ad I'm going to have to phone and arrange a viewing. Which is a bit scary - I've only been here a week and already I have to make quick decisions! That's not like me at all! Eek.
