I am currently reading a really interesting journal article. This article is full of long words - so full in fact that the entire article is Really Really Long. It's taking me quite a long time to plough through, but it's not so much the length of the article or the length of the words in the article, so much as the fact that as I'm reading I keep forgetting to concentrate, and then I have to go back a couple of pages and pick up from when I last remembered to concentrate because I'll have read a couple of pages without taking anything in. There are some articles where I get through them none the wiser because they're dense and rambly and not worth the effort (and I always advise people not to bother with articles like this - life's too short). This one's different though - despite the fact that I can read a few pages and then realise I have no idea what I've just read, it's not because it's dull, it's really interesting. I'm just hopeless at reading it.

I'm sure proper researchers don't have to remind themselves to concentrate (much).
