Eat your heart out JK Rowling, this is set to be the next bestseller. Well, maybe not, but I am wondering if my shiny new brolly has magical powers. As my poor little brolly from London only survived the first week in Glasgow being blown inside out more times than you've had hot dinners before it gave up the ghost, last week I bought a really hefty one which will, hopefully, withstand the worst that Glasgow weather has to throw at me. The only problem is that, being hefty, it doesn't fold up into my bag, so I have to carry it round with me. It's the kind of big umbrella that Means Business, you have to stride around purposefully with it otherwise you look a bit silly. However, every time I take it out with me, the clouds disappear (or at least the rain does). So I'm left hoiking around this massive thing that's impossible to hide whilst gazing at the blue sky. The one time I didn't take it with me, of course the heavens opened. Gah.
In other news, I saw two more flats this morning (one was lovely, what to do, what to do ....). I'm viewing another this afternoon and another tomorrow, and then a couple more next week. I picked up a couple of useful tips from the estate agent showing me round one of the flats (regarding what to look out for in terms of building strengthening in tenement flats, and also about factors which I hadn't known about before but who seem very useful in the absence of leasehold and freehold). I've pretty much narrowed down the area I'm looking at, but whether appropriate flats in my pricerange come up this regularly for long remains to be seen. Fingers crossed.
