Anyone who knows East Kilbride will know that, like other new towns, it is a mass of roundabouts. Each roundabout has a pedestrian walkway underneath, and the chances are, wherever A and B might be, you'll have to walk under at least one to get from A to B. I'm no exception, and it has struck me ever since I've been here that the particular roundabout I walk under almost always has a selection of abandoned shopping trolleys strewn about the place, presumably because there aren't any nearby streams to dump them into.
Anyway, I've started a count - so far the record (last Thursday evening) was 8 trolleys (up from the previous day's record of 6). Actually I did find 8 of them in one place a bit creepy-looking, or maybe it was just that it felt a bit bleak. This morning for the first time I didn't see any. It felt kind of empty in there.
