How sad is this?

I've had a companion in bed for a while.

It's the "Little Book of Sudoku, Vol.2". Sigh.

Last night I decided to spice up my bedroom routine a little, so I exchanged Sudoku for a more heavyweight companion. The Oxford Russian Dictionary to be precise, as I had a translation to do for this morning.

No wonder I feel like crap when I wake up in the morning. It would be nice to listen to someone breathing during my insomniac moments, rather than the silence and emptiness and aloneness. Sometimes I even think a cat sharing the bed would be nice - and I don't even particularly like cats.

As if my (let's face it) rather inadequate bedfellows weren't sad enough, this morning I had to go to the solicitors to sign some forms. The first one was an affidavit where I had to sign to confirm that I don't have a spouse or partner who could claim any occupancy rights to the Stately Pile (calling it Swamp Castle is too depressing now, given the damp work I have to get done). So, as if being alone and partner/spouseless isn't crappy enough, it's now legally enshrined too. Yippee.
