No.2 - Irn-Bru
Now I've never been a big fan of fizzy drinks, so although Irn-Bru is available down south I've never bothered buying any (apart from a very very occasional sparkling mineral water in the pub if I'm not drinking - that's pretty much the only fizzy drink I ever have). But ever eager to sample more of the Scottish culture, I've just indulged in a little bottle of the orange stuff to see what all the fuss is about.
I won't be doing that again. It's horrible. Unidentified fruit flavours, eye-poppingly sweet (to me anyway) and I can't remember the last time I tasted something so artificial. It reminds me of the cheapest of the cheap nasty penny chew sweets we bought in the 70s if we didn't have enough pocket money to buy a proper bar of chocolate, or perhaps that stuff you swill your mouth out with at the dentist. Yuck yuck yuck. Even haggis feels appetising after this (and no, I won't be trying that anytime soon!).
