I went to our church's monthly coffee morning this morning, and got chatting to someone I've not really spoken to before. The subject came round to what I'm doing for my PhD, and as soon as I said what I was doing her face lit up - it transpires that her sister-in-law, who now lives in Glasgow, is a doctor from Moldova who she was sure would be really keen to meet me and chat with me. Having already got a Romanian doctor as a language teacher, this does seem a bit unlikely to be totally random! I know I sometimes feel like my PhD is never going to get going, and convince myself that it's all going to be disastrous, but then I keep getting things like this handed to me on a plate. Fantastic stuff.
