I realised I haven't said much about Lent - I'm being lower-key this year. Still avoiding chocolate and alcohol and the usual suspects, but as I've been not having those all last month as well due to the detoxing I felt a bit of a fraud saying I was *giving up* for Lent when I'd already *given up* for me. Not that I think there's anything wrong in benefiting physically from a Lenten discipline, in fact I think it's important that the physical and spiritual be more integrated, in my life at any rate. It's so easy for me to pig out, and become the ultimate piggy consumer, so being less greedy is no bad thing. But that's something I need to think about all year round.

Thanks to the reminder from Tractor Girl I've printed out Christian Aid's Count Your Blessings so am taking a bit of time out to remember my blessings and help, in a small way, those less fortunate. As I commented on TG's blog, I could just write out a cheque for twenty quid at the end of the month, but thinking about every penny makes it all a lot more meaningful.

Who knows how it all works, but I hope that at this time I get to encounter God. It would all be a bit pointless if I didn't.
