This week Diamond Geezer blogged about his bemusement at the rise of the manbag. I don't know about men, but I have to say I like manbags so much more than girlbags. I've been after a bag for months - my usual bag was an entirely functional and not that attractive bag which I bought 3 years ago for £4.99 in Lewisham Woolworths. It was just the right size for me to carry casenotes around, plus lunch and various bits of equipment and obscure irrelevant stuff that might come in handy sometime*, and since I've returned to studentdom it's been great for carrying notes, library books (usually unread), lunch, gym stuff and all the rest of it. However, the handle has been held in place for the last several months by a safety pin, and the other week the strap situation finally became terminal. All this time I've been keeping my eye out for a decent bag that not only carries all my stuff but doesn't look like it cost £4.99 from Lewisham Woolworths, but it's just been impossible. Girlbags are all either tiny, outrageously expensive, or, well, girly. So I've finally bowed to the inevitable, and bought a manbag instead. I can't believe I didn't do that months ago. Marvellous.
* proving once and for all that I am indeed my father's daughter.
