It's been too long ...

Stately Pile 29 May 2006... over 6 months, to be precise, since I did any drawing. So, as it was dry and not *too* cold, I took a chair and a cup of tea out back and spent a very nice 3/4 hour getting back into it. This isn't too bad given the lack of practice, though I wish I was braver with making colours bolder and "filled in", I think that would make my drawing a bit more distinctive. I might get that effect with oil pastels though (this was the usual chalky pastels), but I've not been brave enough to try them yet as I think they get a bit messy! The plant in the foreground is rosemary, the tall one at the back is the shorter of my two oleanders, and at the front (bottom right) are sage and raspberry (which has never given me any fruit, but does have some flowers this year, so maybe it'll be 3rd time lucky). The plant in the square pot on the left is freesia - most of my bulbs only produced leaves this year with just one or two flowers, and this is no exception, just one flower out of a big pot full of bulbs. It's pretty though. Given the space constraints I think there's only one or two other views I could do of my own little bit of garden, so I shall have to think about exploring more widely when I have less work.
