I've just been through the liturgy for confirmation/affirmation with the rector, and I've more or less decided to go for confirmation, as it seems to me that the affirmation is more about me and my decision, whereas confirmation is all that plus the sacramental impartation of grace and strength to move on in that grace. The liturgy for both is basically the same, the main difference being that in confirmation the President is the bishop. Our current liturgy for confirmation is about to be debated this week in General Synod so might be subject to some change, but as it stands at the moment this is it. Reading some of those prayers - particularly section 7, the laying on of hands - it just seems to express my heart's desire: that's how I want my life to count in the bigger scheme of things.
