As mentioned a couple of entries ago, Glasgow University has a fabulous main building. There was unexpected blue sky when I left yesterday morning to go into uni, so I rushed back to get my camera as this is a rare occurrence this time of year! Sadly the sun was so bright and shadows so dark that not that many of my pictures were very clear, blue sky notwithstanding, but here are a few of the best ones of the main building. I like the cloisters in particular a lot.

I'd like that, particularly as my first university (click on "Panoramic Views", and make sure you check out the Chapel) has its own impressive building, but sadly my office is in a concrete monstrosity, with a view of the library (concrete monstrosity). Oh well, you win some, you lose some.

Yesterday I met with some students from A.N.Other university, we're going to be doing a joint conference next year on research methods and I'm on the organising committee. They were very keen about it all, and a bit scary, but we went for a meal afterwards and I enjoyed their company a lot. I liked that one person in particular found my research topic really interesting and got all enthusiastic about it - because I'm stuck with it 24/7 I tend to take it for granted after a while and think that it's not that great, or it's a bit dull, but when somebody else gets enthusiastic it helped me to remember that actually it is rather cool. Now I just need to translate that enthusiasm into actually getting down to some work.
