Today HD and I headed over to the east coast of Scotland, to meet up with a couple of friends of mine from London days who moved to St Andrews a few months ago. We started off at the Montrose Basin nature reserve, and had a look out at the various birds that were rooting around. I was particularly happy to see a curlew or three, as I've never seen one before. After that we headed south a few miles to the lovely Lunan beach (my blipfoto photo for today is also from there).

After that we headed south again to St Andrews, which I had never visited before. It's mostly famous for golf and for the university, which has the reputation (not entirely unfair, though of course there is more to it than this) of being where rich people go when they can't get into Oxbridge. We had lunch there and had a wander round the town, on the way discovering the Guid Cheese Shop (which was very guid indeed) and seeing the ruined cathedral and the harbour and beach.
