So, we took a carful of stuff over to the new house today (we have a new house, hooray etc) and found, much to our surprise, that the vendors left a whole heap of stuff. They rented the house out to students for several years, so the furniture they left was presumably bought specifically for that rather than being anything they were particularly fond of or attached to, but we certainly weren't expecting anything other than the white goods in the kitchen. Stuff included a double bed, 2 single beds, I don't know how many single mattresses, 2 desks, 2 armchairs, huge corner sofa, lots of cushions, giant yucca plant, microwave, slow cooker, chest of drawers, wardrobe, bookshelves - we'll keep some of the stuff but am hoping that a local charity can take the bulk of it (the local Churches Together seem to support a homeless charity providing stuff for people being rehoused), and will freecycle the rest. This was one of the more, er, unusual items left behind - he is over 6ft tall and will be the first to be freecycled! I was pleased with the full length mirror they left behind, it makes me look ever so slim! Definitely keeping that.
