30th June:
The solitary flower on my [Christian festival of your choice] cactus. This plant is ancient, one year (I think 1999 or 2000, thinking about the particular window of the particular flat at the time) I counted over 100 flowers at one point, it was a riot of colour. When I'm reunited with my photos and scanner I must see about getting a photo up. If I remember rightly it started out as a Christmas cactus, but flowers a bit later every year so by a few years back it was an Easter cactus. This year the flower appeared first about a month ago. If it's still going I expect it to be a Christmas cactus again in about 5 years time at this rate!
29th June:
We went to see the touring version of the musical "Avenue Q" at the King's Theatre. It was absolutely brilliant, we loved it and laughed all the way through. Every time there was a new song I was thinking "I must remember that one, it will be my favourite" and then another song about something else would make me laugh just as much and it became my new favourite, till the next song. I thought the choreography with the humans and puppets worked really well. It's not one to take your kids-who-you've-not-yet-explained-the-facts-of-life-to, it is quite rude in places, but never gratuitously - I thought it was absolutely hilarious, and would happily see it again. Hats off to the cast (human and puppet) who were all amazing.
