Today we had another day out, this time we went to
Potfest which this year was at Scone Palace, near Perth. I really enjoyed it - the last few times we've been to Potfest, both in Penrith and in Stirling, there hasn't really been much that grabbed us, but this time there were loads of things I liked. We ended up with me buying a couple of ceramic wine glasses (currently for display, as I'm off the booze this year, but we do intend to use them!), and HD buying a couple more bowls to add to our expanding collection. He also bought a present for his dad's birthday, so we did alright out of it this year. The entry fee also entitled us to access to the gardens and grounds of the Palace so we got the chance to have a wander round. This picture is from the old cemetery - there were some lovely old weathered gravestones with some exquisite carvings, the oldest stone we found was from 1684. We also had a wander round the gardens and pinetum, and took a look at the old tiny Presbyterian chapel, in front of which is a replica of the Stone of Scone, where all the old Scottish kings were crowned.
On the way back we decided to cut across country rather than go on the motorway, and so had a more picturesque drive back taking in a couple of lochs I'd not seen before (Loch Earn and Loch Lubnaig). We really do live in such a beautiful country, we're so lucky.
