I got back down south yesterday evening, and will be here (or, at least, not in Glasgow) for the next 2 weeks. This afternoon I have discovered the memory stick with all of my work on it is missing. The most likely explanation is that I have left it at home and it is sitting on the bedside table, but I have no way of finding this out for sure until my friend with the spare key gets back from holiday later in the week and can hopefully go in and look for it. I have phoned easyjet lost property who say they've not had a memory stick handed in yesterday, so I'm sure the left-at-home scenario is the most likely one. But to say I am frantic at the moment is a bit of an understatement. Some of the work (the file I am working on every day) is copied on to this laptop, so that's OK, but the other stuff which I also wanted to work on is copied to my work PC. I'll check up the backup stick which HD in his wisdom encouraged me to do, so I suspect that actually all is not lost, but my goodness what a pain in the neck! I'm so stupid - clearly doing a PhD is no indication whatsoever of any brains or common sense (not in my case, anyway).
In other news, in a few days we are going away to Munich for a few days to stay with my sister, brother-in-law and niece. I'm really looking forward to that.
