I went into town today as I had a few errands - here's Glasgow Central station on a mid-Friday afternoon.
It turns out my mum is the world's most difficult person when it comes to buying presents. Not that I didn't know that already - every year since forever, whenever I've asked her what she wants for birthday or Christmas, she always says either "I don't know" or "nothing". Which doesn't really give me very much to go on! Anyway, I got her "something", which I think she'll like, so at least that mission was accomplished.
