18th February:

Tonight we watched a programme on BBC iPlayer called "No Sleep Till Yell", about the Shetland Folk Festival (for UK readers it is still available on iPlayer to view for a few more days, and for folk further afield it is apparently on YouTube too). One day we'll get there! I'd so love to go back to Shetland and explore properly - my couple of days there a couple of years ago was enough to give me that ache to return, but not enough for me to feel like I'd done it any justice at all. The festival looked brilliant - amazing music, amazing place, how can it not be fantastic?

17th February:

I appear to have developed a really irritating tendency to be better (and quicker) at marking essays in the wee small hours of the morning before work than in the evenings once I'm home after work (to be fair it's probably more irritating for HD - but at least he can roll over and go back to sleep). So Thursday saw me get up at 4am, and do loads of marking. I am semi-seriously thinking about applying for more OU work, but would need to think about giving up my day job in order to do that (something that I wouldn't be overly heartbroken about) - 4am starts a couple of times a month isn't really ideal as a long term career pattern.
