This is the book I'm reading at the moment, for this month's book group. It's a very interesting read, Nafisi used to lecture on English lit in Tehran but eventually had to give up her job; this is the account of a book group she held in her home with some of her students reading forbidden western books and looking at what they had to say in their circumstances in Iran (this was in the late 1990s). The book is in 4 sections based on books which seemed to make a particular impression, the first is Lolita and the second (which I'm reading at the moment) is based on The Great Gatsby. I'm looking forward to her reflections on Pride & Prejudice!
