Orlando

This evening HD treated me to an evening at the theatre. I must say I'm not a big theatre buff and generally prefer a music concert to acting, but this was a great production, and it had the bonus of being at our local theatre, the Tramway. The play we went to see was a version of Virginia Woolf's Orlando, performed by actress Madeleine Worrell and German musician AGF (you can read an interview with her in the Herald from a few weeks ago here). Though I have to say, I think the star of the show was whoever was doing the lighting effects, which were quite extraordinary. In particular the effects when Orlando was sleeping were really breathtaking.

Generally I find theatre quite pseudy, and this was too. But not in a bad way! (HD said he didn't think it was pseudy, but then he likes Peter Greenaway films).

[In other news, I got the OU job, I attended a tutorial today, luckily (for me) taken by the outgoing tutor. I think it's going to be quite a steep learning curve! More on that another time, maybe once the th*s*s is finally done]
