HD and I saw the film "Amazing Grace" at the weekend, about William Wilberforce and the efforts to ban the transatlantic slave trade 200 years ago. I really liked it, and found it very inspirational - I've always had this vague "wanting to change the world" kind of feeling, and every now and then something like this film reminds me of that. When I was in my late teens/early 20s I thought I'd change the world by leading everyone to Jesus (as you do), and in my late 20s I had moved on to planning on singlehandedly reforming psychiatric health services in eastern Europe. In my 30s I've got a tad more realistic, but deep down I still want my life to count for more. I think what is good though is that I'm finally realising that it's about time I stopped telling God what my calling is (I've got it wrong so far!) and started trying to listen a bit more. Rather belatedly, I'm realising that I'm really not very good at that.
