Imagine my joy earlier today when I went to take a bag of rubbish to the bins out the back, to find my back courtyard littered with used needles/syringes. Talking later to my upstairs neighbour she said that she'd found the same thing last week too, plus blood dripped all the way down the stairs from the top floor to the bottom. I'm pretty sure that it's not any of the residents, but that people have managed to get in somehow (there is a window of about an hour when our front door is unlocked, on a timer, so the postman can get in) and shoot up in our stairway. I'm not happy. I don't feel unsafe personally, but I am worrying a bit about leaving the flat empty (the first time I was burgled, when I lived in Brockley, I lived opposite a drug den and the police (and I) were pretty sure that they had been watching to see people leaving the block so they knew it would be empty). Bah. I really like this area, and despite it being a bit rough and ready hadn't seen anything like this here before. I really hope it doesn't happen again - I'll certainly be onto the (useless) factor this week to see about getting the door timer disabled, the postman will just have to buzz to be let in.
