Tags: plea for sympathy, Save Pollok Park, Glasgow

I've spent far too long on the internet to distract myself from the fact that I'm in an empty flat. HD phoned so I know he is still alive (or at least he was 2 hours ago!), and I had the chance to thank him for leaving me the washing up (which I still haven't done).
In other news, I posted the above picture on my Glasgow Daily Photo blog today, and thought I'd highlight it here too. Pollok Park (which we went to the other weekend as we visited the wonderful Burrell Collection) is the subject of a local campaign against council plans to allow a commercial adventure park to be built in the park, in the main wooded area, totally against the spirit of the original bequest of the park for the enjoyment of the people of Glasgow and the enhancement of the natural beauty of the area. So I'm happy to plug the Save Pollok Park campaign website here too - it's very ironic I think that the council is happy to proclaim Pollok Park Britain's Best Park in big signs like this one (it's an accolade it won last year in a public vote), and yet then work against the wishes of the Maxwell family, the National Trust for Scotland and a large number of local people in ruining the park. The organisers of the campaign have asked me if they can use this photo in their publicity - I'm really glad to help them out in this small way.
