Haggis

My colleague came back from a week in the far north of Scotland today (where she'd had much much better weather than we did down here) and brought me back a vegetarian haggis. Goodness only knows what I'll do with it - what on earth do you eat with haggis?

Today I sent off an application form to join the nurse bank at the local hospice. Although I'm a registered nurse, because I'm working as a health visitor full-time I'm not doing any nursing at all at the moment, and if I don't start doing some then I'll lose my nurse registration when it comes up for renewal next year. I can't say I'm bursting with enthusiasm at the prospect, but even though I don't want to be a nurse (or health visitor for that matter) for ever, I don't want to lose the registration for either job having worked so hard to get them, and quite apart from anything else if I become a full-time student next year then it will be a great help having something to help me earn some extra cash. I only need to do a shift or two a month to make up my hours, so hopefully it shouldn't be too onerous.

I've just been out to water the garden, it looked really lovely with the sun and shadows, so I took lots of pictures which will hopefully be the "before" lot of a "before and after" set. I'm hoping this summer to gravel the bits that aren't planted (currently they're just mud), so that I'll hopefully get a couple of summers of a stunning garden before I leave. Apart from watering, a bit of pruning and (thankfully) not too much weeding it's pretty low-maintenance, I think if I do move away it will be one of the things I would miss most. Especially as when I moved here it was entirely gloopy clay/mud apart from the patio slabs - it might not be the Eden Project, but it's all my own work.
