Happy coincidence

This afternoon I had the interview for the bank nursing job at St Christopher's Hospice. Which went OK I think - they were rightly concerned that as I had in effect not done any adult nursing for over a year my main need before working was to become more au fait with palliative care drugs, but they were happy that the non-technical care related stuff was stuff that I do every day and I think it went well overall. Well, we shall see.

But what I was really really really chuffed about was that, whilst waiting to go into the interview, I was looking at the stand of information at the hospice, and found a list of hospice providers in the part of the world where I want to do PhD research. And seeing as I want to research health care providers in that part of the world, I thought that was a pretty handy thing to have to start making some contacts. It turned out that the list was the last one on the stand, so I went to find a member of staff to make sure that it was OK for me to take it. The woman I found was not only delighted that I was interested, but dug out tons of other stuff for me as well including websites and THE definitive book on the subject. After the manicness of the last few days of exam and revision, I was feeling a bit jaded, but this has given me a boost to carry on. Hooray!
