Perfect weather for a BBQ

Today was a momentous occasion, when I got to meet ShiftyGnome (of Tea Break blog fame)! (Actually I've met him before, but I hadn't put two and two together and connected SG with his ship persona). Slightly embarrassingly during our conversation, it transpired that although I'm planning on applying to do a PhD, I've never managed to master predictive texting. Equally embarrassingly, it's actually only relatively recently that I've figured out those things on supermarket trolleys that you put your pound in to unlock them. I lost a fortune on them before working that out. And I can only wire a plug if it has a picture attached to it. And I haven't a clue how to put air into my tyres. Honestly, talk about standards dropping!

Today was the engagement BBQ of a couple of ship folk, and despite the rain threatening for most of the afternoon we had managed to eat most of the food before it started getting wet. Of course it was wonderful to see some old faces again (most of whom I've not seen for a while), and the parrot as well.

Good news on the dissertation front. I'll chat with my colleague (who is now back from Moldova) some time this week, but it looks like Moldova is on. Yay!
