I got an email today confirming that I can go to Moldova, which will be in just over 3 weeks' time. I'm really excited, although between now and then I need to read through several reports of previous evaluations of the projects, do an extensive general literature search, write an essay, plan an interview schedule, email the partners in advance with some initial queries, carry on working through the course material, book my flights, arrange a letter of invitation so I can get the visa at the airport ... oh yeah, and do my full-time job. The two weeks before I go I have a student nurse to supervise at work, plus a child protection case conference, and a one-day study day on childhood nutrition. A friend once said he was talking to a guy who worked in high-level recruitment at a party and he was saying he would always offer an interview to anyone who had an Open University degree, as he knew that all that juggling work and home life with studying was not easy and it took a certain kind of person to be that committed and applied. A certain kind of nutter with no life if you ask me on a bad day, although I have to say the studying is kind of addictive.
