I heard today that an abstract of mine has been accepted and I will be speaking at a conference in Nottingham in a couple of month's time. It will basically be a rehash of the talk I gave at Scaryconference last month, but to a different set of academics (more postgrads, and not in my discipline) so it will be good experience and good to get a different perspective on my work, as the field I'm in can be quite insular and slightly odd. Not that academics in other fields aren't also insular and slightly odd, but it will be interesting to get feedback from different insular and slightly odd people.

I've also (finally, after a long break because of going away, writing the conference paper and marking essays) gone back to my interview transcripts and am still going through them v e r y v e r y s l o o o o o w l y as they need considerable correction. It's good to get back to them, though it's hard-going, and as I tend to frown when I'm concentrating (and this requires a LOT of concentration) I now have a massive headache. They don't tell you about this in the "How to Get a PhD" books.
