Simple pleasures

Yesterday I went blackberry-picking - admittedly only from the brambles which are taking over our residents' parking bay, but I couldn't let them go to waste, and blackberry-picking is one of my favourite things (mind you, I did get ripped to shreds in the process). It takes me right back to really happy childhood memories (we had blackberries in our garden, and also in the nearby park, so blackberry-picking was a staple part of my childhood summers). Last year I made half a ton of blackberry and apple jam, and I'm thinking maybe this year I'll do a crumble or five (I picked a good couple of kilos yesterday and there's still tons more waiting to ripen - I think I'm going to have to get baking and giving away as there's no way I can eat it all by myself!). I hardly ever bake things, mostly a confidence thing I guess, also I really don't do big puddings as a rule, but on the rare occasions when I do it's real fun.

And then yesterday and today I had the wonderful pleasure of being able to hang my washing on the line and let it dry outside rather than hanging it up indoors. There's something about the smell of clothes that were dried outside ... mmmmmm....

I guess I must be easily pleased :)
