Enrolment blues

Sometimes this student thing is just so frustrating. I moaned a couple of entries back about trying to enrol on my Russian course - basically the website says you can enrol online, by phone or in person, so of course I opted for online. I completed the form, expecting to then go to a page where I could pay, only to get a message to say "thanks, we'll phone you to complete the enrolment". Now, not all of us have a day job where we're at a desk with a phone all day, and when I'm on a home visit with a client or doing a baby clinic I'm not going to have my personal phone with me switched on because that would be unprofessional and distracting, not to mention rude. So of course, I missed their call. As if that wasn't irritating enough, the message they left was so incomprehensible I couldn't make out the return phone number, so I had to go back online to get that. When I phoned them back today I got the "all our operators are busy" message (grrrrr!) and had to leave a two-part automated message, the first part with my name and number and the second with the course I wanted to apply for. The electronic lady very kindly told me that someone would call me back as soon as they were free - and I'm still waiting! This is just SO frustrating - this is the 21st century, surely I should be able to enrol and pay online for a beginner's evening class in a few minutes rather than both me and the college going backwards and forwards leaving messages that don't get answered? I hope applying for the PhD is more straightforward than this.

In other news, I'm feeling a bit fed up with the world today. I hate feeling like this, pathetic and down in the dumps and sorry for myself, but it's one of those things where once you start it's really hard to snap out of it. What I need is a good belly laugh (well, a snog would be good as well, but the belly laugh will do for now). Anyone know any decent jokes?
