Had a half day study day today, and of course the obligatory you-know-what happened. Fortunately it could have been a lot worse (it was mercifully short), though I must admit that when the facilitator discussed the possibility of us role-playing the scenario back at our various places of work so that we would know how to handle An Incident, I broke out in a sweat and palpitations. Which was a bit ironic, considering the study day was on anaphylaxis.

In other news, I got my essay back today. Not a great mark - 61% - but that was entirely to be expected considering that (a) I hadn't done any work, (b) I wrote the first bit of it at Greenbelt in the middle of a field, and (c) I wrote the rest of it at 3 in the morning the day I submitted it. I was pleased with my tutor's comments though, saying that she felt I'd made more progress than the grade suggested, and that my work is an "exciting piece of action research". I think so too, though I'm sure after writing up the dissertation I'll be sick to the back teeth of it.

In more other news, on the train on the way back home from the study day (the 4.35pm to be precise - there is a reason why I'm telling you) I sat down opposite this German guy who asked me the time. I had a look at my watch and said "It's just gone 4.30", and he practically barked at me "Is it 4.32 or 4.33?" A bit taken aback, I managed to wimper "I'm not sure, my watch is a bit vague", but my goodness what IS it with people? Lighten up, for goodness sake. I must tell my (German) brother-in-law about that - he gets really embarrassed about German people living up to the stereotype.

And in yet more other news, looking over somebody else's newspaper I spotted the intriguing headline that 25% of women prefer housework to sex. Hmmm. Looking at the state of my house at the moment I don't think it would be too difficult to work out which part of the divide I'm on.
