I had a lightbulb moment at work today. I'd read some stuff relevant to my thesis, which was interesting enough. Then I read a couple of chapters from a random sociology book that's not actually very relevant to my thesis unless you screw your eyes and cross your fingers while reading it, and *kerChiiiiing* - major insight into an aspect of my research which may well find itself somewhere in my analysis and my conclusions. Which isn't bad for a day's work. I wish that happened more often.
