Do not be alarmed ...

The following appeared in this morning's notice sheet at church, slipped in like it was the most normal thing in the world:

Do not be alarmed ...
If you see a large tropical-looking spider hiding in your pew. It may look dangerous, but we have had it checked out by a RSPCA spider specialist and we have been informed that it is just a harmless yard spider! So acting on specialist advice, it has been released back into the Church, well into the boiler room."

Now, call me old-fashioned, but I really wouldn't care if it was the Queen of England. If it appeared in my pew, I'd be very very alarmed indeed.

And how does one become a RSPCA spider specialist? I bet the school's careers advisors never predicted that one.
