Now that I've been to a few Russian classes I've started to suss out who's really good (and therefore scary) and who is as useless as me. I then made my strategic choice of seating position according to that knowledge. The other week I inadvertently sat next to the main teacher's pet, who scared the life out of me, partly because she was so good, and partly because she wouldn't let me get away with saying "I can't do this, I don't know what it's going on about" (get a life, woman, it's only an evening class!). So today I sat next to someone who also doesn't do any homework which made me feel loads better. It even turned out that I was better than him, but I wasn't so much better that I scared him, so I think we both ended up a bit more reassured.
I really must find time to do some homework though.
