Thanks to fishsoup ("heartbreaking work" etc etc), I've just registered with London Bloggers (see link) - I must say I really like the site and the concept of using the tube map to order things. Though, like fishsoup, some of us in London still aren't on a Tube line despite this being the 21st century. Grrrr.

Today was a good and a frustrating day at work in equal measure, though frustrating enough to make me think that leaving to study next year would be a good move. This morning I started my series of antenatal classes, doing group work is one of my favourite aspects of the job, and demonstrating childbirth (at which, it has to be said, I'm not the world's most experienced person) was an interesting experience! This afternoon though, I had a phone call from one of my more irritating clients which, well, irritated me, and also I met with the key workers for a client of mine who told me about the new social worker who appears to have made a decision based on judgmentalism and with no regard to good practice, which has really upset me, shocked me in fact, and made me think that getting out of a job which has such responsibility for people's lives is perhaps no bad thing. Don't get me wrong, mostly I have a huge amount of time for social workers, and I know I could never do their job. But this decision, if indeed that's what it turns out to be, is plain wrong and I'm very angry. 4 years in an ivory tower will do wonders for my sanity and emotional health I think (remind me of that when I'm whingeing about full-time essay writing won't you?!).
