My ears continue to baffle medical science

Or, the ongoing saga of the creaky ear.

Yesterday at work, having spent the weekend putting oil in my creaky ear, I got the practice nurse to have a look to see what was going on in there. She said that there really wasn't anything much to see and was surprised I was having problems, and then went to look in the other ear for a comparison. She was so surprised by what she found that she called in the other practice nurse to have a look as well, and then they stood round oohing and aahing - apparently my good ear is so blocked it's a miracle I can hear anything (I can hear just fine and have no problems with it at all. The creaky (but clear) ear is the one that's driving me nuts). Anyway, the upshot of it all is I'm now oiling the good but blocked ear and Practice Nurse 2 is going to syringe it for me next week. She'll have a go at bad but clear ear as well, so I must say I'm rather looking forward to it. I only get my ears done very rarely, but it's a very cleansing experience which I do really like. I told this to my colleague, who pronounced that there was obviously something missing in my life. Hmmm, I guess I don't quite make the grade then for Poster Girl for Obviously Victorious Christian Living. Oh well.

In other news, yesterday evening the birthday festivities for my friend continued at an amusements place on the South Bank. The camel racing and the horse riding were my favourites (if I can figure out how I'll post a pic later of me horse riding - I'm really very horse-phobic, but plastic ones I can cope with). Ate lots of junk, laughed a lot, and had a very good time. Struggled to get up this morning though.

And then this morning the cold which has been threatening since the weekend finally arrived with a vengeance, so I'm now sitting here dosed up to the eyeballs and feeling very sorry for myself. The one good thing though is that whenever I have a cold there's a night-time remedy I can take which is the only thing that I know will guarantee me a good night's sleep. So I suppose that's something.
