Arabic Revision

This week has been rather hectic, so I haven't revised as much as I should. So it's important, for me at least, to get to it. Hence my procrastination about blogging about it rather than doing it.

Knowing almost all the letters, things are quite tough now. We have learnt a great deal, I think, and remembering it all is getting tough for my poor brain cells. One of the letters we learnt last week was the one similar to our k, kaaf which looks like ﻚ on its own or in the final position of a word and ﻜ in the beginning or middle of a word. And then you've got it's "angry sister", as our teacher terms them: its emphatic counterpart qaaf which looks like ﻘ , ﻗ or ﻕ depending on where it appears. It is truly fascinating to see the shapes of the letters: nothing like them in English.

There are a great number of words (I count 22!) for this week's vocabulary as well. Since we've generally had 4 or 6, it's a bit of a leap. But it's good fun.

And, last, but not least, a new photo of my niece, Skye. Unfortunately none of the photos I took had her looking at me! She certainly is growing up...
