Mmmmm. Absolutely delicious.

With Semele up in Sydney, we popped off tonight for a post-dinner snack at Abla's, Granville. Certain other denizens of this city were asked, but apparently it was too far to travel on a school night. I can well understand, though!

Semele had a hot chocolate and some baklava, while I had a coffee, baklava and pistachio shortbread. I bought a plate of the shortbread to take to work tomorrow [to share...but I could easily scoff the lot!], and Semele bought some baklava for the person she is staying with. A wonderful evening. I was rather tired (I haven't been sleeping well; feeling a bit off-colour and Daylight Savings kicking in are probably not the best combination), and I hope I was at least pleasant company and not off in a daze -- though my driving Semele back via a very scenic route, adding 10 mins+ to the trip, probably reveals otherwise.

As Yay pointed out today, the Melbourne Cup, the "race that stops a nation", was run today. Office sweeps are very popular today, and I haven't done too badly in the past. Today, however, none of the three horses I had returned any money. Oh well. It's all good fun. And well done to Makybe Diva and those involved with her for a record third Melbourne Cup win! We had a nice lunch and the TV was turned on in time for the race.

In other news, this set of cassettes was delivered to me today. I am greatly looking forward to listening to them and learning more about Orthodoxy and the spiritual life within Orthodoxy. I took home the video series of this series from our parish's lending library when I first started looking into Orthodoxy, and found them a great help and blessing. I've begun watching them again as I near my chrismation: full of information as well as practical steps to live a Christian life. The same speaker, Fr David Anderson, does this second series, and I know they will be of great benefit and will be listened to many times.
