In terms of any art, I'm an ignoramus. In fact, a super-ignoramus. I know nothing.
I do like to go to Art Galleries, occasionally; I'll make a special effort if a 'famous' artist has an exhibition, like I did with the Caravaggio exhibition. I wander around galleries, especially when I'm in Europe, generally the 15th and 16th century rooms, and I find myself drawn to religious paintings especially. I generally see something, go, "Wow!", and then look for anything by that artist.
![]() | A similar thing happened when I read Saint's blog and saw a painting by He Qi. Wow. I love it. I can't describe it, as I don't know the technical terms, but I love the Chinese influences on the Biblical stories that I so often have only seen in Western art. Absoutely beautiful. And new persecptives, at least for me, on old -- yet timeless -- stories. |
