Uncle Ian and Grandma took Skye to Fairfield City Farm Saturday afternoon. A very good time was had by us all.
The farm is only about a five minute drive from our place. And it is a lovely place: not too busy, and a good variety of animals to see and things to do. She found the noisy and wing-flapping geese very entertaining. She enjoyed patting and feeding the sheep and goats (you can buy a bag of grass feed to give to the animals as you travel around). The chickens running around had her laughing. The emus running around and wallabies hopping around had her amazed -- they do walk and hop rather oddly. There was also a joey in one of the kangaroo's pouches which grandma and Ian found fascinating: all you could see were the paws!
The birds (cockatoos; kookaburras; boobook owls; rosellas; and more...) also entertained her: especially the corella that kept saying, "Hello!"
The cows and pigs were a bit too big for her, I think: she didn't want to go near them! But a little chicken that had just hatched excited her: a farm-hand was holding it and Skye kept pointing and screaming at -- what an introduction to the world!
Next trip: Featherdale Wildlife Park.
