Congratulations to Dale Begg-Smith, former Canadian now Australian, who won Australia's first gold of the Torino Olympics in the Men's Moguls. It's only our third gold in the Winter Olympics: Alisa Camplin won Aeriel Freestyle and Steven Bradbury (Short Track) in 2002. Steven won as everyone else fell over: we're still laughing and rejoicing over that!
Congratulations and well done! Interestingly enough he's a shy and rather rich internet entrepreneur: not the typical job you'd expect for a world-champion skier! Seeing him in interviews he's also extremely humble and well-spoken. Nice to see. Dale's brother Jason also competes for Australia in the moguls: he came 29th. Well done to him too -- and to all.
I am enjoying the Winter Olympics. I always do: there seems to be something about it that is a bit more mysterious and exciting than the Summer ones. All these strange, to me at least, sports: some of them completely insane -- as if luge wasn't crazy enough, you can go down head first with skeleton. Very, very odd. But it is rather exciting to watch!
