My paternal grandmother, who has been unwell for some time, has been recently diagnosed with lung cancer. She is finding it increasingly difficult to get around due to breathing difficulties, and does, at times, appear to have lost the will to live. Please remember her in your prayers, and my dad also: he is naturally taking it quite hard.

On the issue of ill relatives, please also remember Michael who is flying out to see his mum, whom the doctors have pronounced brain dead. Lord, have mercy.

My grandmother was taken to hopsital by ambulance today for observation. We were having lunch at my sister and brother-in-law's new home when she suddenly found it hard to breathe. She was taken to hospital and may be released later tonight. She was more concerned that she walk into hospital rather than go on a stretcher wheeled by the ambos [she is afraid of people's pity: that gave us a laugh at least].
At this time I also paused to remember the police, firefighters and ambulance people, and to give thanks for all they do. Philippa recently blogged about firies. Thanks be to God for them all.
