The final song is playing on our broadcast here: but due to a certain Sydney newspaper splashing the results on the front page of its website, I know the result. Regardless, I've tuned in as Eurovision is an experience to be savoured.

Congratulations to Lordi from Finland: winners of Eurovision 2006! I'd post a picture, but it may scare young children and those with frail hearts: click here if you dare.

Oh, Nana Mouskouri has just walked on as they prepare to begin the countdown. And the host said Amazing yet again! Oh, and again. [for those who didn't see it, just as white was the colour of the event and legs the defining feature, amazing was used by the Greek-American female host at a rapid rate]

For sheer novelty, they were a good pick, but I think I preferred Lithuania's mad-cap cry, "We are the winners" -- rock isn't my thing.

"Our" Jane Comerford (Newcastle-born) did a great job I thought with Germany's Texas Lightning: how often do you get country music at Eurovision?

The other three I think I mosr liked were from Romania, Sweden and Bosnia-Herzegovina.

I did wonder what on earth Spain was thinking, and France and Ireland seemed to not care. And I'm sorry to all the UK-ers, but Daz did nought for me.

Congrats to all the participants: entertainment indeed.
