A Friand Is Not A Friand

One does learn something new every day.

Friand -- or at least what I call one!
On the Oz and NZ thread on the Ship, I discovered that a friand is actually called a financièr: at least in France. As this page explains, a friand, at least in the rather grandiose sounding Nouveau Larousse Gastronomique, is made of puff pastry and is stuffed with sausage meat (what we a sausage roll).

And to think I have enough trouble with the UK/Australia and US divide on biscuit!
