¡Cristo ha resucitado!
[last entry: Cristo es rinaschieu! -- Romansh; response: In varded, el es rinaschieu!]

A wonderful meet last night with Adam Pater (over from Perth) and Duo Seraphim (a Sydney-sider) around The Rocks, and around we did go. The Rocks is the site of Australia's first European settlement (1788) and, thankfully, much of its history has presevered: old buildings and narrow alleyways and cobbled streets are still there. It is now full of pubs, cafes, restaurants and a variety of shops. The Rocks Market is very popular also.

But on to the meet.

We began at the Belgian Beer Cafe. Though not a beer drinker myself, I enjoyed a peach beer there as I did last time. Yes: peach beer: check out their menu.

We then made out way to Orient Hotel, where the drinks continued. I stuck with a Coke.

Another Coke was consumed by me at Sydney's oldest pub (in terms of being continually licenced), The Fortune of War. They had a very talented musician there who had the crowd singing along and dancing with his selection of greatest hits.

Dinner was at Löwenbräu Keller: very nice. They seemed to have stepped up to a new level with the food since a last visit, where the food was alright. Last night was delicious. I had the Jägerpfanne mit Spätzle (medallions of veal with ham & cheese on spätzle & nushroom sauce) which was delicious, while Duo and AP shared a huge Schlachtplatte for two (selection of Bavarian Specialities, sausages, meatloaf, chicken schnitzel, roast pork belly, kassler, mashed potato & sauerkraut). This was washed down with some very pleasant Franziskaner Weissbier, and then a coffee and dessert afterwards. We also had the most delightfully humorous Austrian (I'm guessing by the accent) waitress: she kept us entertained throughout.

The Löwenbräu has a great number of staff, backpapers I assume, from the Germanic-speaking countries. And they are dressed in dirndls and lederhosen. It being a Friday night, the Oom Pah Band was out, and various competitions (nail hammering, beer drinking...) were going on inside. It is a place to be experienced.

A very, very pleasant evening.
