[Axios is a Greek word meaning, "worthy", which is exclaimed by the congregation at the ordination.]
Congratulations and many, many years!, to deacon Chris who was ordained to the diaconate at the Evening Divine Liturgy for the Sunday of the Blind Man at Saint Mary's, Mays Hill this evening.
"You are worthy!" was chanted, loudly, as the ordination took place, and a wonderful supper was had in the hall afterwards. I was introduced to a new Lebanese dish, the name of which I've forgotten: it was a dessert that involved some form of cheese -- it was absolutely delicious.
