Wikipedia articles state over 70 million tonnes of coal is shipped through the Newcastle Port facilities each year -- making it the largest coal exporting port in the world: with capability for 103 million tonnes a year. There is also a move for, and resident and environmental movements against, a new, fourth, coal terminal to meet with increasing energy demands around the world.
