Paraklesis with the Russians

A fellow parishioner often visited the ROCOR Our Lady of Kazan Convent parish church Tuesday evenings: when he told me about it, it being on my way home and all, I thought I'd visit tonight. I am very glad I did.

A wonderful Paraklesis to the Theotokos service (in English). Apart from me, there was one other parishioner, and the priest: and the multitude of Saints and angels. A beautiful parish, with icons everywhere. The service of Paraklesis in the Russian Church is a bit different (shorter, I believe) to the one we have in our parish, but it was no less beautiful.

After the service the parishioner came up to me and said 'Hello' and asked if I'd like to speak to the priest. I said 'Yes', and had a small but pleasant chat with him, passing on my 'Hello' from my fellow parishioner who has been a bit too busy with work and other things to attend.

I think I may make a Tuesday evening visit there on my way home a regular occurrence. The priest also told me of a plan to start a Thursday night Bible study in Picton, which is two towns and about 15 kms north of me: I may make that a regular feature of my spiritual life also: it would be great to meet with people and study God's Word with them during the week.

Thanks be to God.
