Shower Routine

World Cup: oh well, it was fun while it lasted. And Wimbledon got off to a rainy start.

I generally take a shower in the morning, as soon as I get out of bed. Discussions with friends, most of whom are non-Anglos, has caused me to wonder if this is an Anglo thing: most of them take showers before bed. I recall a rather vigorous discussion on this one day during uni -- the infamous When to Brush Your Teeth(*) discussion also took place. A morning shower I was -- and proudly so. [Though during Sydney's 90%-humidity summers, two showers a day (short ones -- we do have water restrictions) are necessary.]

The coolness of my current location has made me change my routine though: getting up at 5:50am at sub-zero temperatures to take a shower isn't all that pleasant: especially when you have thin walls, wooden floorboards, twelve-foot ceilings and only a small ceramic heater to provide warmth. So, if the interest of my laziness, allowing me to spend an extra ten or so minutes under the covers in relative warmth, I've moved to evening showers. And it is rather nice.

Time will tell if I shall slip back to morning-mode when spring settles in.

(*)I can't recall whether peace was ever made over this: I am firmly in the post-breakfast group (have you ever had orange juice after brushing your teeth? Ewww.), but the pre-breakfast group did have good arguments also: especially if one was lazy enough to not brush before bed.
